Product Configurator DeepLink: share a finished configuration as a link
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Add-on plugin – requires the Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). This plugin works exclusively as an extension of the base plugin Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). Without the installed, active, and separately purchased base plugin, this plugin has no function.
A customer calls: oak worktop, 1800 by 900, cable cut out, two of them. You put the phone down, rebuild the configuration in your shop and write an email explaining which options to pick. The customer clicks through, chooses a different edge profile and asks whether that is still right. Two days later the order arrives. Sometimes.
The problem
Your product configurator can express any variant, but a finished configuration has no address. It only exists in the customer's browser while the page is open. Every route out of the shop turns into an assembly instruction: oak first, then 1800 by 900, then the cable cut out. In the newsletter, in the quote, on the phone. Every option that gets lost on the way costs you a question, a correction or a return.
The basket carries on in the same way. A customer sees the item, wants a different edge profile, and has to delete it, go back to the detail page and click everything again. A shareof those customers starts having second thoughts and buys nothing at all.
The solution
This plugin gives every configuration its own URL. The product page shows a "Share configuration" button with the ready made link underneath, waiting to be copied. Whoever opens that link sees the detail page with exactly this selection and the matching quantity, plus a short notice confirming that the configuration has loaded. No instructions, no rebuilding, no misunderstanding.
What's in it for you
Straight from the campaign into a finished configuration. Your newsletter no longer points at a bare product page but at the fully configured product including quantity. All the customer has to do is press "Add to basket".
Quotes without a wall of description. Instead of spelling out the selection in words, you attach the link to your quote. What the customer opens is exactly what you priced.
Fewer drop offs in the basket. Configured items carry an edit link. The customer opens the configuration, changes one option and saves. The old item is replaced, not duplicated.
Price enquiries for everything your shop cannot calculate. A quote form on the detail page collects the request and emails it to your sales channel, with a link to the configuration, the quantity and the message. The quote button can replace the buy button, for selected customer groups only if you wish.
Support that can see the selection. When a question arrives by email, ask for the customer's link. You open it and look at the same configuration they do, instead of interpreting screenshots.
One switch per sales channel. The quote route runs in your trade channel while the consumer channel keeps the detail page your shoppers already know. No second installation needed.
How the plugin works
As soon as the configurator assembles a selection, the plugin stores that selection in a table of its own and derives a unique code from it. The code travels as a parameter on the product URL, and the quantity follows as a second parameter. When the link is opened, the plugin reads the stored selection back and applies it to the configurator before the page is rendered.
If the link is older than the validity you set, the plugin says so and loads the default configuration. Nobody ends up staring at a half filled selection believing it is complete. A daily background job removes the expired entries in batches, so the database is never locked for long.
Typical use cases
Campaign email for a recommended build. You configure the suggested specification once in the shop, copy the link and send it to your list. Every recipient lands on the same finished configuration.
Field sales and telephone orders. Your sales desk configures the product with the customer on the phone and sends the link afterwards. The customer orders directly, without anyone retyping a selection.
Trade price enquiry instead of instant checkout. In the trade channel "Request a quote" replaces the buy button for the trade customer group, so a quote for GBP 4,200 worth of worktops reaches your sales inbox with link and quantity attached.
Late change before checkout. On the confirmation page a customer notices the wrong edge profile, opens the edit link and corrects it without leaving the checkout.
Technical facts for your IT team
Shopware 6.7, PHP 8.2 or newer.
Add-on plugin – requires the product configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix) from version 6.7.12 and extends it. It creates one table of its own holding the product ID, the selected options and the code. Shopware core tables stay untouched and no custom fields are added.
The plugin sends no data to external servers. Its deep link table holds no personal data, only the product reference and the option values. The quote form stores nothing in the database: the entries are sent as an email through Shopware's mail template and the Flow Builder to the configured recipients, falling back to the shop address of the sales channel. Shopware's captcha plus a dedicated rate limiter of 3 requests in 30 seconds, 5 in 60 seconds and 10 in 90 seconds keep the form from being abused.
The clean up job deletes in batches of 1,000 rows and uses an index on the creation date, so it never scans the whole table. Every configuration value is read for the active sales channel; with the channel switch off there is no link, no quote button and no clean up in that channel. On uninstall the "Keep user data" tick decides: with the tick everything stays, without it the plugin removes its table, the mail template, the form page and the flow template.
To be honest
Without the product configurator SwpProductOptionsSix this plugin does nothing. It extends that configurator, it is not one itself. It also calculates no prices: the quote form collects the enquiry, the pricing stays with you. And links are created inside the shop while somebody configures, so an external system cannot mint a new deep link on its own. Switch it on in one sales channel first and watch how your customers use it.
