About the Extension

Add-on plugin – requires the Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). This plugin works exclusively as an extension of the base plugin Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). Without the installed, active, and separately purchased base plugin, this plugin has no function.

Your customer configures a made-to-measure blind and adds it to the cart. Then a second one, same width, same colour. The cart now shows a single line with a quantity of 2. If they want one of the two ten centimetres narrower after all, they have to delete the whole line and start over.

The problem

Shopware merges cart line items that look identical. For ordinary articles that is exactly right, nobody wants three rows for three of the same screw. For configured products the logic turns against you: two separately configured pieces disappear behind one row with a higher quantity.

That costs you in three places. Your customer can no longer change or remove one of the two configurations on its own. Your production team reads "quantity 2" on the order and has to ask whether two separately made pieces were really meant. And in the worst case the customer drops out, because the cart shows something other than what they clicked together.

The solution

The plugin gives every configuration its own identity at the moment it goes into the cart.Adding the same configured product twice now means two line items with a quantity of 1 each. Every row carries its own configuration, can be inspected on its own and can be deleted on its own.

Your options, surcharges and product page stay exactly as they are. The plugin steps in at one single point: the click on "Add to shopping cart".

What's in it for you

The cart shows what your customer actually built. Two individually configured pieces sit there as two rows. Nobody has to guess from "quantity 2" whether one configuration was ordered twice or two pieces were meant separately.

Your customer fixes one line without losing the other. They delete that row, configure it again and leave the second one untouched. Before, the same job meant deleting everything and starting from scratch.

Fewer callbacks in sales and production. The order carries one row per piece with the matching configuration attached. That saves precisely the phone calls spent working out what the customer meant.

You decide per sales channel. Split the line items in your consumer shop and keep the familiar merging in your trade shop. One toggle per channel, nothing more to set up.

No maintenance on individual products. No extra field on the product, no new area in the Administration, no rules to keep up to date. Switch on, save, done.

The way back is one click. If the behaviour does not suit you, switch the channel off again. The cart works exactly as it did before, with no need to uninstall anything.

How the plugin works

When a customer adds a configured product to the cart, the plugin attaches a unique timestamp to the configuration data. That makes two otherwise identical configurations distinguishable for Shopware, so the cart stores them as separate rows.

Whether this happens at all is decided purely by the setting of the active sales channel. The value is read while the page is being built and shipped along with it. Products without a configuration are left alone, and identical ordinary articles still end up in one line item with a higher quantity.

You operate all of this through a single setting in the "Configuration Channel" area of the plugin configuration. The toggle is called "Activate plugin for this channel" and is switched off after installation.

Typical use cases

Made-to-measure blinds, worktops and cut-to-size parts. Two shelves with identical dimensions in the cart, one of which needs to get narrower later. Separate line items turn that change into a two-step job instead of a restart.

Engraving, printing and personalised goods. Two name plaques with the same lettering are still two pieces to be made one by one. On the order they appear the way they are produced.

A consumer shop and a trade shop side by side. The B2C channel keeps the line items apart for clarity, while the B2B channel goes on merging them, because buyers there order in quantities anyway.

Technical facts for your IT team

Shopware 6.7 with Storefront, PHP 8.2 or newer.

Add-on plugin – requires the product configurator (swp/productoptions-six) from version 6.7.12. Without it the plugin has no effect, and no error appears in the shop.

It creates no tables of its own, runs no database migration and touches no Shopware core table. No custom fields are added either. The only thing stored is its own setting in the system configuration.

The plugin sends no data to external servers. It processes no personal data: a timestamp is appended to the configuration data of the cart line item, and nothing else.

No PHP service of its own runs at request time. The channel toggle is read from the system configuration while the page is rendered and travels with the page cache, so the checkout gains no extra queries. The effect happens in the buy form on the product page, which is why the storefront files need rebuilding once after installation and after each update.

On uninstall the plugin clears its own setting, provided you do not tick "keep user data". Interface and metadata ship in German, English and Dutch.

To be honest

This plugin does not bring a configurator with it. All it changes is how finished configurations land in the cart, and without the Product configurator it has nothing to do. If your customer sets the quantity to 3 on the product page, you still get one line item with a quantity of 3, because only items added one after another are kept apart. Carts that were filled before you switched the plugin on stay exactly as they were stored. Switch it on in one channel and look at the cart yourself, it takes less than five minutes.
