Display Net/Gross Price

About the Extension
A trade customer lands on your product page, sees £120.00 and starts working out the price excluding VAT. On your B2B channel it is the other way round: £100.00, and the sole trader who cannot reclaim VAT wonders what actually leaves their account. Both want the same thing. The other price, right there, no calculator.
The problem
Shopware shows exactly one price per customer group, either gross or net. Anyone who needs the other figure does the maths or sends you a question. Most solutions in the store are switchers. They only get you halfway: the customer has to spot the toggle, click it, and then still sees just one price. The comparison happens in their head, not on the screen.
The solution
The app leaves your price exactly as it is and puts the second value directly underneath. If the customer group sees gross prices, £120.00 is followed by “net: £100.00”. If it sees net prices, £100.00 is followed by “gross: £120.00”. The app reads the tax display of the customer group to decide which case applies. You map nothing by hand.
What's in it for you
Both prices at once, zero clicks. Your customer sees net and gross together, on the product page and in the category listing alike. No toggle to hunt for, no second page load.
Fewer “is that inc. VAT?” emails. The page answers the question itself. Nobody can honestly predict how many enquiries that saves you. It is, however, exactly the question that otherwise ends up in your inbox.
One store for trade and retail. The app follows the customer group. Consumers see gross with the net value below, business customers see net with the gross value below. You do not maintain a second set of prices.
Tier prices and base prices too. Every tier in the price table gets its own counterpart value. The base price appears as “Content net” or “Content gross”, so the price per kilo or litre stays comparable as well.
Decide channel by channel. On for the trade shop, off for the consumer shop. You enable the app per sales channel and choose whether it also appears in listings and on the base price.
Runs in the cloud and self-hosted. Being an app, it works in Shopware Cloud and in self-hosted stores on Shopware 6.7. No separate server required.
How the app works
Everything is switched on straight after installation. The app adds the counterpart value in these places:
- Product page: the net or gross value appears below the price. When the customer picks another variant, the value follows the new price.
- Tier prices: each row of the tier price table shows its own net or gross value.
- Listings: in product boxes, for example on category pages and in search results, the value sits below the price.
- Base price: a separate line starting with “Content net:” or “Content gross:”, followed by the pack size and the price per reference unit. Products without a selling unit do not get this line, so no empty label is left behind.
The app configuration offers three switches, each per sales channel: “Activate plugin for this channel”, “Net/Gross price in Listing” and “Net/Gross content price”. Storefront labels come from snippets in German, English and Dutch. Prefer “excl. VAT” over “net”? Change it in the snippets in the Administration.
Typical use cases
- Catering wholesaler with a trade channel: business customers see net prices, with the gross price underneath, so the café owner who is not VAT registered knows straight away what the dishwasher really costs.
- Builders' merchant serving trades and the public: consumers see gross prices with net below. The electrician browsing without logging in compares directly with their usual supplier's price list.
- Food and groceries with base prices: for coffee in 750 g bags, the price per kilo is shown net or gross as well, right below the regular base price.
- Buying in quantity: whoever orders 10, 50 or 100 units sees both values in every tier and has nothing to convert for their own costing.
Technical facts for your IT team
- App for Shopware 6.7 (compatibility ~6.7.0), runs in Shopware Cloud and in self-hosted installations.
- No app server: the app consists only of storefront templates, snippets and a small stylesheet.
- No custom tables, no custom fields, no changes to Shopware's original tables.
- The app sends no data to external servers and processes no personal data. There is nothing to add to your GDPR records.
- Values are calculated in the template at render time, from the price data Shopware already loads for the page. The app runs no database queries of its own and brings no caching of its own.
- The templates extend Shopware's blocks and keep the original content. Other extensions hooking into the same place keep working.
- Uninstalling: the app creates no data. Once removed, your store shows prices the standard Shopware way again.
To be honest
This app displays a value. It is not a switcher. The main price stays as Shopware calculates it for the customer group, and your customer cannot toggle between net and gross. Basket, checkout and invoice are left untouched. The counterpart value uses the tax rate of the respective product. If you want your customers to flip a toggle, a switcher is the better choice. If you simply want both prices on show, have a look at the demo first: gross view for consumers and net view for trade customers, each in the category “Netto/Brutto-Preisanzeige”.
