Rating: no rating ( write a review )
Downloads: <10

Description

Highlights

  • One product, several shops, its own option list in each. No duplicates
  • See in the backend exactly what your customer gets in the shop
  • Nothing changes until you assign. Move product by product
  • Switch it off per sales channel without losing your assignments
  • Test new options in one channel first, then release them everywhere

Features

  • Field "Select sales channel" in the "Product configurator" tab of every product
  • Assign configurator options to one specific sales channel
  • The backend option list filters to the selected sales channel straight away
  • The number of assigned options is shown in brackets after the heading
  • Entry "nothing selected" shows every assignment without a channel
  • A single assignment is enough to arm the restriction in that channel
  • Products without an assignment show the full option set in every sales channel
  • The same option can be assigned to several sales channels
  • Setting "Enable plugin for this sales channel", separate per channel
  • Switching off deletes nothing: assignments stay and take effect again instantly
  • Works with headless setups built on the Store API
  • Index on the sales channel column keeps the product detail page fast
  • On failure the shop shows the full option set instead of an error page
  • The plugin writes to its own log channel for troubleshooting
  • Uninstall removes column, index and settings completely if you choose to

About the Extension

Add-on plugin: requires the Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). This plugin works exclusively as an extension of the base plugin Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). Without the installed, active, and separately purchased base plugin, this plugin has no function.

Your trade shop sells the same shelving unit as your consumer shop. Just with heavy-duty fittings, without the three decor colours, and with the extra length instead. Until now you had two choices: create the product a second time, or show everything to everyone. Both cost you time every single week.

The problem

The product configurator knows options per product. Not per shop. Create an option once and every customer sees it in every sales channel, whether it fits there or not. Anyone who wants to separate the two ends up duplicating products and maintaining two data sets side by side: two descriptions, two image sets, two price lists. By the time you open a third country shop, that is not maintenance any more. That is a second job.

The solution

The plugin attaches a sales channel to every link between a product and a configurator option. In the Product configurator tab of a product, one field appears: Select sales channel. Pick the channel, assign the options you want through Assign options, save. When a customer opens the product page, the configurator serves the options belonging to their channel. One product, one data set, different choices.

What's in it for you

You stop creating products twice. Description, images, prices and stock stay on a single record. The only thing that differs between shops is the option list.

You see in the backend what the customer sees. Select a sales channel in the product tab and the list Assigned product options shows only that channel's options, with the count in brackets. No switching to the storefront, no test order.

Nothing changes until you assign something. A product with no channel assignment shows the full option set everywhere. The restriction only kicks in with the first assignment, and only for the channel you gave it to. So you can install the plugin and then move product by product at your own pace.

You can switch the separation off per sales channel. The setting Enable plugin for this sales channel puts it on hold without deleting anything. Your assignments stay stored and take effect again the moment you switch it back on. Handy for troubleshooting, and for shops where you deliberately want to offer everything.

You test new options in one channel. Release the new finish in your smallest country shop first, watch for a fortnight whether anyone orders it, then roll it out further.

How the plugin works

You work in two places. First, in the product under Catalogues → Products → Product configurator: above the option list sits the field Select sales channel with the default entry nothing selected. That entry covers every assignment without a channel, which includes everything you created before installing this plugin. Second, in the plugin configuration under Extensions → My extensions → Configure: that page holds Shopware's own sales channel switcher, the to documentation button and the on/off setting.

In the shop, the configurator then decides in three steps. Is the plugin switched on for this channel? Does this product have at least one option assigned to exactly this channel? If yes, it shows those options and nothing else. If no, it shows the full set.

Typical use cases

Trade alongside retail. The trade shop gets heavy-duty fittings, custom lengths and the pallet quantity, the consumer shop gets the three decor colours. Same product, two option lists.

Country shops with their own rules. Your UK shop offers the BS 1363 connection, your Irish shop does not. The customer is never offered an option you would rather not ship there.

Outlet or promotion channel. The clearance shop shows only the variants you genuinely want to sell off. Your main range stays untouched.

Headless setups. The evaluation hangs off the sales channel, not off the storefront technology. An app or a custom frontend built on the Store API gets exactly the same restriction as the classic shop.

Technical facts for your IT team

Shopware 6.7, PHP 8.2 or newer.

Add-on plugin – requires the product configurator ("swp/productoptions-six") from version 6.7.12, installed and active. Without it this add-on has no function and cannot be installed at all.

Shopware's own tables stay untouched. The plugin adds a "sales_channel_id" column to the base plugin's assignment table and puts an index on it, so the query on the product detail page does not scan the whole table. Each product page adds one ID lookup with a limit of 1; no full records are loaded for it.

The plugin sends no data to external servers. It processes no personal data: the only thing stored is the link between a configurator option and a sales channel. The on/off setting lives per sales channel in Shopware's system configuration.

If the evaluation fails, for example because a permission is missing or a migration was aborted, the shop serves the full option set instead of breaking the product page with an error. The incident goes into the plugin's own log channel. On uninstall Shopware asks whether to remove the plugin data: choose to remove it and the column, the index and the settings disappear completely, while the base plugin's configurations stay exactly as they are.

To be honest

This plugin is an add-on and nothing else. It creates no configurator options, changes no prices and does not replace the product configurator: without the base plugin SwpProductOptionsSix you get no interface here at all. If you run a single sales channel, it simply does nothing for you. The value starts with the second channel that needs a different selection. Running several shops on the configurator? Try it on one product. A single assignment is enough for the test.
