About the Extension

Your customer is on the article page looking for one single fact. Is this vegan? Does it come from the region? Is the packaging recyclable? The answer sits somewhere in your description, fourth paragraph, between material details and care instructions. It rarely gets found there.

The problem

The article facts that decide a purchase hide in body text. Anyone who wants to make them visible builds them into every single article description by hand. With thirty articles that still works. With three hundred it turns into paperwork, and the moment a certification changes you hunt down every occurrence one by one.

The solution

You create your markers once: image, name, group, explanatory text. Then you attach them to as many articles as you like. In the shop they appear together in the buy area, right next to the price, sorted by group. Change a text and you change it in one place, everywhere.

What's in it for you

Buying arguments become visible. The properties that set your article apart sit where the customer is already looking: next to the buy button. Not in body text that hardly anyone reads.

Maintain once instead of three hundred times. One icon, any number of articles. Reword your organic notice and you correct it in a single place. Every article follows automatically.

Order through groups. You sort your markers into your own umbrella terms: nutrition, origin, care, whatever fits your range. The customer gets a structured list, not a wall of symbols.

Every sales channel on its own. Your consumer shop shows the icons, your trade portal does not. One switch per channel, no second installation, no theme copy.

Your languages, your wording. Name, group and description are maintained per language. If a translation is missing, Shopware falls back to the main language.

How the plugin works

In the administration you get your own area under Catalogues for all icons. You create them there, with an image from your media library, a group, a name and an explanatory text you can format. Assigning them to a article runs through a custom field on the Specifications tab: pick the icons, save, done.

In the shop the article page shows a block headed Article information. It holds your markers, structured by group, each with image and text. You decide whether the block starts open or expands on click, and from which screen width that applies. If you want, the article tiles in categories and search carry the symbol as a small badge as well.

Typical use cases

Food retail. Vegan, gluten free, organic under the EU regulation, regionally produced. Four markers that sit on the packaging in the shop and were missing online.

Textiles and fashion. Fairly produced, Oeko-Tex certified, machine washable at 40 degrees. Exactly the facts people ask about in a shop.

Tools and technology. Spare parts available, made in Germany, five year warranty on the motor. Trust signals that explain a price difference.

Technical facts for your IT team

The plugin runs on Shopware 6.7.11 or newer and needs PHP 8.2 or newer. 6.7.11 is the floor because the icons use Shopware's component system, which was introduced there. It creates two tables of its own, swp_product_icons and its translation table. Shopware's own tables stay untouched; the link to the article lives in a dedicated custom field set.

The plugin sends no data to external servers. There are no tracking calls, no licence check at runtime and no outbound connection. Everything stays in your Shopware database, which answers the GDPR question as far as the plugin is concerned.

Icon data is loaded in one batch per page view, not one query per symbol. On uninstall Shopware asks whether your data should be kept; answer no and tables and custom field set disappear without residue.

To be honest

The plugin does not assign icons automatically. There is no rule along the lines of "every article in the organic category gets the organic seal", you attach each marker to the article it belongs to. With a large range that is legwork nobody takes off your hands.

No ready made symbols ship with it either. You bring the images yourself, because they should match your shop. And the position is fixed: the block sits in the buy area of the article page. If you want it elsewhere, that takes a change in your theme.

If none of that bothers you, give it a try.
