About the Extension

Google PageSpeed Insights provides recommendations to optimize the time a browser needs to render your website. The recommendations are continuously updated so that websites have to be adjusted regularly to get good ratings.

Since June 2020 PageSpeed Insights recommends to Preload key request. The goal of this recommendation to tell the browser in an early stage of the loading process which elements are needed to render the website. To achieve this static elements like fonts are referenced in the <head> section of the website before they are actually imported via the CSS styles of the websites.

Our plugin analyzes the CSS file used in the theme of the shop to create a list of the used font files. It then generates a rel=preload Tag for each font to allow the browser to load the used fonts before they are needed.
