We would like to introduce the new version of our popular Google Tag Manager + Google Analytics plugins, which has been licensed for Shopware more than 15.000 times. Our new plugin offers seamless integration of Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics into your Shopware 6 online store, as well as full compatibility with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) now for the very first time.

Our plugin is a must-have for every store owner who wants to get the most out of their data. It gives you full control over your Google-readable data layer and allows you to take the performance of your online store to a new level by analyzing customer behavior. With the Data Layer customization option, you can easily create custom variables and target them to your marketing campaigns. For example, you can track how many people perform a certain action on your online store or which products are viewed and purchased the most. Using the containers in Google Tag Manager, you can also add further tracking or function-extending scripts to your online store without any programming effort. And of course, the whole thing can be done in a DSGVO-compliant manner.

Installation Note:

To ensure that custom extensions in the DataLayer are retained, the new plugin uses the same tables as its predecessor. If you've already installed the old plugin, please follow these steps:

Uninstall the old plugin before you install the new one.
During the uninstallation process, do not select the option "Permanently Remove All App Data".
After installing the new plugin, the GA4-Layer will be automatically integrated into the existing tables.

Macht was es soll - darüber hinaus ist es einfach anpassbar. Bei der Migration von der alten Version auf die neuen gab es einen Fehler - dieser wurde vom Support analysiert und gelöst: einfach das Plugin nochmal neu installieren. Nun geht alles. Danke!

Mir ist kein Plugin bekannt, in dem der DataLayer so umfangreich editiert werden kann. Das Plugin gibt es schon seit SW5 Zeiten und ist in vielen unserer Projekte im Einsatz.

Why is the plugin no longer avaible for free?

For us, the plugin was not a business case for years (already in Shopware 5 times). The development of a plugin is time intensive. Furthermore, a lot of time is needed to keep the plugin up to date regularly and to consider new Shopware versions or adjustments to the Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics. Although no official support has been offered so far, we still received support requests on a daily basis, most of which we answered. In total, hundreds of hours have gone into the plugin and we were on the verge of discontinuing further development. Since we received a lot of attempts to persuade us, we decided to continue developing the plugin after all and to make major adjustments regarding the changes from Universal Analytics to GA4 and the compatibility with Shopware 6.5 upwards. However, we can no longer manage to offer the plugin completely without financial compensation. We hope for your understanding!

Why is the plugin only available in the monthly or annual rental variant and not as a purchase version?

Shopware no longer offers a one-time purchase (with subscription) for new plugins in the Community Store. In the near future, the one-time purchase will probably also no longer be available for existing plugins and all plugins will have to switch to monthly or annual rental. (Status 06/2023)
