Password Protection
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Password Protect adds password protection to your storefront: for the whole shop with one global password, or for single product pages, category pages and landing pages with their own password or the global one. Visitors of a password-protected page see a password form in your shop layout and return to the page they requested after the right entry. By default, a statistics page in the Administration counts unlocks and failed attempts.
Password protection for the whole shop
In the plugin configuration, you enter a "Global Password" and switch on "Enable Global Shop Protection". The storefront pages of the sales channel then ask for this password, including product pages, categories, search, customer account and checkout.
- global protection and global password per sales channel or for all sales channels
- one correct entry unlocks the globally protected pages for the rest of the session
- the global password also applies to single pages with protection switched on but without their own password
Password protection for products, categories and landing pages
Products, categories and landing pages get the custom field set "Password Protection". There, you switch on "Enable Password Protection" and, if needed, enter a "Custom Password (override global)"; without a password of its own, the page uses the global one.
- products: the product detail page; variants take over the protection of their parent product
- categories: the category page; subcategories and the products in it keep their own setting
- landing pages: the landing page
- the category assigned as the entry point for the main navigation also protects the home page
- pages with their own password protection ask for their password even in a shop under global protection
Password form for password-protected pages
Visitors who open a password-protected page are redirected to a password page in your shop layout with header and footer. After the right password, they land on the page they requested.
- texts such as "Password Required", "Enter Password:" and "Submit" as snippets that you can change in the Administration
- a message for a wrong password
- after five wrong passwords, the form is locked for 15 minutes in that session, with a note on the minutes left
Session and cache with password protection
Unlocked pages stay open for the rest of the session. Products, categories and landing pages with the same password unlock together, and after a password change, visitors have to enter the new password, even if they had unlocked the page before.
- password-protected pages skip Shopware's HTTP cache
- headers such as Cache-Control: no-store tell browsers and proxies not to store them
Statistics for password-protected pages
Under Catalogues > Password Protect, the statistics page shows the unlocks and failed attempts of today and in total, plus the unlocks of the last 30 minutes. A table breaks the logged unlocks and failed attempts down by page, with type, password (custom or global), today and in total, and the last activity.
- logging is on by default and can be switched off in the configuration
- the log stores the page, the result and the password type, but no IP addresses
- "Delete All Logs" with a confirmation
- optional automatic cleanup: a scheduled task deletes entries older than the set number of days once a day (30 by default)
