Frequently Asked Questions

How do snippets giving feedback to the user on the reason of the redirect? We've provided 6 different snippets which are automatically selected using a combination of selected redirect type and redirect status. Take the following example. If we configure the "Redirect type" to be "Product" and "Redirect status" to be "Permanent (301)" the snippet that will be selected will be "zeobv-unavailable-product-redirects.notice.redirectReason.permanentProductRedirect". You can edit these snippets via the Shopware snippet manager, to provide a text for each scenario that suits your target group!
What happens if a product is assigned to a different sales channel the the specified redirect endpoint? The redirect will still occur. It is important to only configure redirects to endpoints within the same sales channel. We have planned to offer multi sales channel support in the future.
How do I disable the cause for redirect notification for a specific product? You can disable the notification using the toggle "Display notification after redirect"

Configuration manual

Download the "Redirect from product when unavailable" plugin from the Community Store
Install and activate the plugin in your Shopware 6 installation – this can be done via Extensions > My Extensions > Apps. Alternatively, you can use the "Upload plugin" button to upload the plugin ZIP file.
Navigate to the SEO URLS section of a product of your choice
Check the "Redirect is active" box.
Pick a redirect type of your choice.
Select a product or category, or enter a custom redirect path available in the storefront the customer will navigate.
Pick a redirect status. Search engines will use this status to determine if the URL is permanently redirected or just temporarily. Choose whisely.
Decide when the redirect should occur. If you select the option "Inactive" the redirect will only occur once the product is set to inactive in the admin. "Unavailable" will trigger whenever the product is not available for purchase, but the product page is still reachable.
