About the Extension

Purpose of the Plugin

Multilingual shops often require different product images for individual languages. Packaging, labels, dimensions, instructions or promotional graphics may contain language-specific content and should therefore not be displayed identically in every language version.

The plugin makes it possible to control the display of product images based on the currently selected storefront language. Customers therefore automatically see the product images that match the selected language version.

Display product images based on the selected language
Each product image can be assigned to one or more languages directly within the product media configuration. In the storefront, the plugin automatically displays only those images that are available for the currently active language. This makes it possible to use different packaging images, product labels, information graphics or promotional content without having to create separate products.

Use product images for multiple languages
A product image can be assigned to several languages at the same time. This is useful when the same image is suitable for multiple language versions of the shop. Language assignments can be configured individually for each image, allowing general and language-specific product images to be combined flexibly within the same product gallery.

Display general product images in all languages
If no language is assigned to a product image, it remains automatically available in all language versions. General product photos without language-specific content can therefore continue to be used throughout the shop, while only selected images containing text or instructions are restricted to particular languages.

Define an individual cover image for each language
A separate product cover can be selected for each configured language. When the corresponding language is active in the storefront, the assigned image is automatically used as the cover image and moved to the first position in the product gallery. The appropriate image is therefore also displayed wherever the product cover is used, for example in product listings or on the product detail page.

Use the default cover as a fallback
The regular Shopware cover image can continue to be used as the default product cover. If no individual cover has been configured for the currently selected language, the plugin automatically uses this default image. This ensures that a valid product image is always displayed, even when no separate cover has been defined for every language.

* „languages“ describes to which languages the images are assigned. Here you have to take the UUID of the language.
* „useImageAsCoverForLanguage“ describes in which languages the image should be used as cover. Of course, there should only ever be one image as a cover per language.

Can the plugin be used in a headless system?

Yes. The plugin does not provide its own store API route, but the plugin implements the logic when loading products (technical event: ‘sales_channel.product.loaded’). This allows the plugin to ensure that only the media assigned to the respective language is loaded with the product.
