About the Extension

FSK Age Verification – Legally Compliant Age Control Directly in Checkout

If you sell products with age restrictions – whether FSK 16 or FSK 18 – you are legally required to reliably verify the age of your customers. The FSK plugin handles this verification fully automatically directly in the Shopware checkout, without external service providers and without additional costs per verification.

As soon as an FSK-marked product is in the shopping cart, the plugin prompts the customer during checkout to enter the machine-readable zone (MRZ) of their identity card. The verification is carried out server-side – check digits, expiry date and minimum age are validated according to ISO standards. Manipulation is therefore ruled out.

Verify Once – Shop Forever

Once a customer passes the verification successfully, their account is permanently marked as verified. For future orders containing FSK products, the identity card details do not need to be entered again – a smooth shopping experience without unnecessary hurdles.

Flexible and Easy to Configure

FSK products can be assigned in two ways: directly on individual products via a custom field, or via dynamic product groups that automatically capture all matching products. This keeps the maintenance effort minimal – even with large product catalogues.

Both FSK 16 and FSK 18 are supported. The identity card input is optimised for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including older identity cards without a version number.

Im Prinzip macht das Plugin was es soll: Man gibt die IDD Daten eines gültigen Personalausweises ein und es wird das Alter verifiziert. Dies kann auch im Backend manuell für Kunden aktiviert werden. Zum Glück, denn alle Kunden, die keinen deutschen Personalausweis haben, müssen manuell freigeschaltet werden. Der manuelle Aufwand steigt damit enorm und viele Kunden sind zunächst verärgert.

Das Plugin ist nicht kompatibel mit Klarna Payments (egal welcher Zahlungsmethode von Klarna). Regelmäßig schlagen Zahlungen fehl, aber die Altersverifikation kommt problemlos durch. Keinerlei Probleme mit PayPal oder Vorkasse.

Für den Preis "nur" für deutsche Ausweise, ist doch etwas zu teuer. Es gibt bereits zwei Alternativen, die auch internationale Ausweisdokumente erlauben. Zum Zeitpunkt als wir dieses hier gekauft haben, jedoch noch nicht.

Der Support von 8mylez ist hervorragend! Hatten mal ein Ticket mit ihnen für ein anderes Plugin und da war der Service überragend. Denke das wäre hier nicht anders.

Installation

Open the Shopware backend and navigate to Settings → System → Plugins
Upload, install and activate the plugin
Clear the cache and log in again

Open Configuration

Navigate to Extensions → My Extensions → FSK Age Verification → Configure

General Settings

Enable FSK Age Verification

Global on/off switch for the entire plugin. When disabled, no age verification is performed during checkout – regardless of whether products are marked as FSK.

Show FSK Badge to Already Verified Customers

Defines whether the FSK notice on the product detail page is also shown to customers who have already been successfully verified.

On (default): All customers see the notice, regardless of their verification status
Off: Already verified customers no longer see the notice – however, if their verification level is too low for the product, the notice is always shown

Dynamic Product Groups

Instead of marking each FSK product individually, dynamic product groups (streams) can be stored as FSK 16 or FSK 18 sources. All products within these groups are automatically classified as FSK.

Select one or more product groups whose products are automatically treated as FSK 16. Leave empty to disable.

Product Assignment via Custom Field

As an alternative to product groups, the FSK classification can be set directly on individual products:

Navigate to Catalogue → Products → Open product in the backend
Under the "Additional information" tab, set the custom field "Enable FSK" to Yes
Select the FSK level (16 or 18)
Save

Checkout Process

If the shopping cart contains an FSK-marked product, a form for entering the machine-readable zone (MRZ) of the customer's identity card automatically appears on the checkout confirmation page.

The customer enters the following fields:

Identity card serial number
Date of birth
Expiry date
Check digit

The plugin verifies server-side:

Are all check digits correct?
Is the identity card still valid?
Is the customer at least 16 or 18 years old?

If errors occur, an appropriate error message is displayed. The order can only be completed once verification has been successful.

One-Time Verification

After successful verification, the customer is marked as verified in Shopware. For future orders containing FSK products of the same or a lower level, the identity card details do not need to be entered again.

The verification status can be viewed in the customer account under "Age Verification Status" and can also be reset there – e.g. for testing purposes.
