About the Extension
Allow your customers to add one or more comments to products when adding products to basket. So you can allow your customers to individualize products very easy.
Flexible Comment Function for Your Order Items
The extension allows you to add individual comment fields to products. By default, a product can be equipped with one comment configuration. However, in the app configuration you can activate the option to allow a customer to add the same product to the cart multiple times with different comments – ideal for shops where customers want to order identical items with different customizations.
Comments are saved directly to the order item and are not created as a product with child items – as is the case with Shopware's Custom Products app. This means that products with comments can be imported into your merchandise management system like normal products, without any additional configuration effort.
Assignment
The created comment field can either be assigned to all articles or only to selected products. The assignment to products can also be done via dynamic product groups, which significantly simplifies the management of larger product ranges. In addition, comment fields can be assigned directly to specific sales channels, so the feature only appears where it is needed.
Groups, Fields and Field Types
The comment fields are organized into groups. For example, you can create a group called "Engraving" containing fields such as "Engraving Text" (text field) and "Note to Production" (textarea). One or more such groups can be created depending on the needs of your shop. The following field types are available: Text, Textarea, Number, Select, Email, Phone Number, Description, Checkbox, Radio and Date. This allows each group to be individually tailored to the specific use case.
In addition to the standard group, the special "Configurator" group is available. With this group, you can configure an additional price for comments, which is automatically added to the cart. This allows you to offer your customers optional services or customizations for an additional charge.
Configuration Options
Optionally, you can define a minimum and maximum character length as well as an input pattern for each comment field. The configuration also allows you to control whether the "Add to Cart" button in the product listing is hidden as soon as a comment field is assigned to a product – or only when the comment field is defined as a required field. If the corresponding option is activated, customers can also edit their comments in the cart and during checkout, giving them the flexibility to adjust their input right up until the order is completed.
In the configuration, you can also specify whether the order item comment should be printed on the invoice, the delivery note and/or the cancellation invoice – ensuring complete documentation of individual order requests.
Compatibility Note
The "Order Item Comment" app is currently not compatible with PayPal Express on the product detail page.
Options
- Allow edit in cart: If this option is enabled, your customers can edit the comment in the shopping basket and during the final checkout step.
- Type "Standard": Alllow to add same product multiple times to cart wirh different comments: If you enable this option, your customers will be able to add the same product to the shopping basket multiple times with different comments. If this option is not enabled, your customers cannot add the product to the basket multiple times with different comments.
- Merge behavior for line items with comments: Specify whether and how comments should be consolidated in the shopping basket. With the ‘Standard’ option, items with comments are added to the shopping basket exactly as specified by the customer (example: the customer selects a quantity of 3 with an identical comment; the shopping basket contains the item with a quantity of 3). With the ‘Merge’ option, items with identical comments are consolidated into a single item. With the ‘Always individual’ option, each item with a comment is transferred as a separate item (example: the customer selects a quantity of 3 with an identical comment; the shopping basket contains the item three times, each as a separate item).
- Show the comment on the invoice: If this option is enabled, the comment will also appear on the invoice.
- Show the comment on the delivery note: If this option is enabled, the comment will also appear on the delivery note.
- Show the comment on the cancellation invoice: If this option is enabled, the comment will also appear on the cancellation invoice.
- Hide add-to-cart button on product listing page: Specify whether the button should be hidden if a comment field is assigned to the product, or only if the comment field is a required field.

General
Our extensions are based on standard functions of Shopware 6 (Community Edition) and the standard responsive theme. Individual or heavily customised themes cannot be taken into account during development. In such cases, adjustments may be necessary to ensure full compatibility.
Compatibility
Our extensions are generally compatible with each other. If functions are mutually exclusive or overlap, we explicitly point this out in the extension description.
We guarantee compatibility with the Community Edition and the standard theme. If you encounter any difficulties, we will of course be happy to assist you. We cannot guarantee compatibility with third-party extensions or Shopware Premium extensions.

Please check the following in advance:
- Latest version of the extension installed
- Valid rental licence
- Error also occurs in the standard theme
- Third-party extensions are deactivated
- No custom code modifications to the extension
For the analysis, we require:
- Unrestricted admin access
- Additional SSH or database access, if necessary
Important: You are responsible for setting up and removing access. We also recommend a staging or development environment for support.
If it is determined that the cause is not related to our extension (e.g. theme customisations, third-party plugins or server configuration), further analysis will be carried out at a charge after prior consultation.
Trial version
