Do you sell internationally? Your customers expect prices in their local currency. If amounts look outdated or implausible, trust breaks — often before the cart is full. At the same time, maintaining conversion rates manually costs time, creates stress, and invites errors. Yesterday's rate is not enough when your shop competes today.
Shopware includes currencies, but not automatic retrieval of daily rates from an official source. Shops offering multiple foreign currencies often update factors by hand or rely on stale values. That leads to price discrepancies, support inquiries, and weaker conversion — even when your assortment and pricing strategy are solid.

Exchange rates change every day. Especially in B2B and cross-border trade, every percentage point counts: margins, competitiveness, and the credibility of your offer. Customers compare quickly. How CurrentCurrencies works behind the scenes
CurrentCurrencies fetches exchange rates daily directly from the European Central Bank and imports them automatically into your shop. The data comes from the official ECB source — reliable, transparent, and without manual exports.
A scheduled task handles regular updates. You can also trigger the import from the currency overview with one click via the Update factor button when you need an immediate refresh. That keeps you flexible without giving up automation.
Full control per currency
Not every currency should behave the same. That is why you enable automatic updates per currency separately. In the extended backend overview, you see update status, last factor, last change, and configured buffer at a glance.
The buffer lets you add a percentage margin to the ECB rate — for example, a ten percent markup on the imported factor. That covers fluctuations or internal calculations without recalculating rates manually. When needed, you can still intervene and correct individual values.
Important: The default currency must be EUR, because the ECB publishes reference rates against the euro. With this basis, all supported currencies can be calculated cleanly.
Transparency and flexibility for developers
In the admin, you keep track of when each currency was last adjusted. Additional columns in the currency list make changes traceable — for you and your team. That protects against silent deviations and simplifies alignment with finance or sales.
For individual storefront presentations, Twig functions are available: use netiGetCurrentCurrency and netiGetAllCurrencies to bind currency data directly in templates — without theme workarounds.

Compatibility
Our extension is generally compatible with all our own extensions, provided that the respective functionalities do not conflict with each other.
For third-party extensions, including Shopware’s premium extensions, we cannot guarantee unrestricted compatibility. Should any issues arise in this context, our support team will be happy to assist you.
Naturally, when new Shopware versions are released, we ensure that our extension is made compatible with them in a timely manner.

- The latest version of our extension, compatible with your Shopware version, is installed

- You have studied the manual in advance, as it already contains many helpful pieces of information
In most cases, it is necessary for us to have unrestricted access to your shop’s administration in order to analyze and fix the problem. Additionally, it may be required for you to provide us with FTP or ideally SSH credentials for your server. Please note that setting up and later removing these accesses is your responsibility.
For a smooth troubleshooting process, we recommend conducting support in a staging or development environment. This allows issues to be reproduced under controlled conditions without affecting your live shop.
