Outdated exchange rates cost trust — and revenue abroad
If you sell internationally, customers expect local prices. When an exchange rate looks stale or implausible, trust often breaks before the cart is full. Maintaining exchange rates by hand costs time. Shops with foreign currencies often still run last week's factors.
Automatic exchange rates from an official source are not part of the standard. The result is price drift, support tickets, and weaker conversion — even when your assortment and terms are sound.
Why ECB reference rates matter in the shop
Exchange rates change every day. Especially in B2B and export, every percentage point counts: margin, competitiveness, credibility. Customers compare quickly. Outdated conversions look unprofessional, and you carry the financial risk.
You need rates that arrive reliably, stay traceable, and still leave you in control. Not a spreadsheet beside the shop, but automation that holds up in daily operations.
How CurrentCurrencies works
CurrentCurrencies fetches exchange rates daily as ECB reference rates and writes them into your shop. The source is public — no manual export, no third-party rate portals.
A scheduled task updates once a day every currency with automation enabled. In the Administration you trigger the same run manually: for one currency or for several at once. If your operations prefer console or cron, that works too.
Control per currency, including margin
Not every currency should behave the same. You turn automatic updates on or off per currency. In the extended overview in the Administration you see status, last factor, last change, and the configured buffer.
The buffer adds a percentage markup to the imported factor — e.g. ten percent for margin or fluctuation, without recalculating by hand. You can still correct individual values manually when needed.
You also protect the shop from unexpected rate jumps. That keeps an outlier from landing silently in your prices.
Important: The default currency must be EUR. The ECB publishes reference rates against the euro; another base currency is not supported.
Only currencies that already exist in your shop and appear in the ECB data are updated. The plugin does not create missing currencies.
Transparency in the Administration
Each currency shows when it was last updated. That protects against silent drift and makes it easier to align with finance or sales.
For custom storefront output, Twig functions are available: netiGetCurrentCurrency and netiGetAllCurrencies bind currency data in the template — without theme workarounds.
Who this plugin is for
CurrentCurrencies is for shop operators and agencies that sell internationally and need current prices without daily manual work. Whether several local currencies in the storefront, B2B terms in a foreign currency, or growing export business: you get an ECB connection with margin and control.
Install it, check that EUR is the default currency, enable the currencies you need, and run a first update — manually, via the scheduled task, or via cron. Manual factors become current exchange rates you can trace and steer.

Compatibility
Our extension is generally compatible with all our own extensions, provided that the respective functionalities do not conflict with each other.
For third-party extensions, including Shopware’s premium extensions, we cannot guarantee unrestricted compatibility. Should any issues arise in this context, our support team will be happy to assist you.
Naturally, when new Shopware versions are released, we ensure that our extension is made compatible with them in a timely manner.
Please note that our statements refer to the Shopware Community Edition with the standard responsive theme.

- The latest version of our extension, compatible with your Shopware version, is installed
- You have a valid rental or subscription license
- The issue also occurs in the Shopware standard theme and with all third-party extensions deactivated
- No changes have been made by you or third parties to the plugin code
- You have studied the manual in advance, as it already contains many helpful pieces of information
In most cases, it is necessary for us to have unrestricted access to your shop’s administration in order to analyze and fix the problem. Additionally, it may be required for you to provide us with FTP or ideally SSH credentials for your server. Please note that setting up and later removing these accesses is your responsibility.
For a smooth troubleshooting process, we recommend conducting support in a staging or development environment. This allows issues to be reproduced under controlled conditions without affecting your live shop.
