Shopware 6 does not offer a clean, standard solution for providing downloads or structured media content directly on the product page, in the customer account, or in shopping experiences. Custom fields are only partially suitable for this purpose: they are cluttered, poorly scalable, and require new fields for each additional file.
At the same time, there is no flexible way to display media not only as downloads but also visually, for example, as image galleries.
The Media extension fills precisely this gap.
This extension enables the centralized management of media and its targeted display in the storefront – as downloads and as visual content such as image galleries.
Whether datasheets, manuals, drivers, or images: media can be managed in a structured way, assigned flexibly, and displayed exactly where it is needed – on the product page, in the customer account, or in shopping experiences.
This creates clear download areas and attractive galleries without workarounds or custom solutions.
With Media, you manage all your media centrally in the administration area and make it available in a structured way in the storefront – ideal for complying with the Product Safety Regulation (GPSR).
Manufacturer information such as datasheets or instructions are available directly on the product page. At the same time, images can be displayed not only as classic product images, but also as image galleries – e.g., for references, detailed views, or documentation.

First-class media overview in the administration area
Media offers a central media overview with powerful filter search. Even with large amounts of data, you can find media quickly, efficiently, and without clutter. This way, you maintain full control over your files at all times.
Flexible media assignment for maximum control
Link media to products, orders, customers, or experience worlds. The assignment is structured and ensures that media automatically appears in the right place – as a download or visual display.
Shopware Custom Fields
Shopware custom fields are fully supported and can be used directly with media.
This makes it easy to add extra information to media, such as:
- detailed descriptions
- version numbers
- validity periods
- technical notes
These custom fields can be selectively displayed in the storefront – without new data structures or workarounds.
Media Output in Shopping Experiences – Downloads and Image Galleries
The "Media" CMS block provides a flexible element for Shopping Experiences. Media can be output by type, group, individual selection, or even entire Shopware media folders.
Integrated output templates are available for display:
- Table
- Card
- Index
- Image Gallery
This allows for the easy implementation of both classic download centers and visual image galleries – without additional plugins.
Furthermore, custom templates can be used to fully customize the output to individual design and layout requirements.
Console Commands
Importing Local Files
Files from any server directory can be imported directly into the Shopware media manager using a console command. Ideal for large files or extensive uploads – efficient, stable, and without backend timeouts.
Importing Shopware 5 Resources
The Shopware 5 import command enables the automated import of existing media into Shopware 6. Resources are exported and directly imported – without manual steps, error-prone copy & paste, or unnecessary time loss.
Custom Media Tab in Customer Accounts
Optionally, media can be displayed as a separate menu item in the customer account – showing only the files assigned to the respective customer. This ensures clarity, access rights, and a smooth download experience.
Custom Shopware Layout for Maximum Customization
Create a custom Shopware layout specifically for media and download areas. The layout can be duplicated and customized – ideal for different target groups or use cases.

Compatibility
Our extension is generally compatible with all our own extensions, provided that the respective functionalities do not conflict with each other.
For third-party extensions, including Shopware’s premium extensions, we cannot guarantee unrestricted compatibility. Should any issues arise in this context, our support team will be happy to assist you.
Naturally, when new Shopware versions are released, we ensure that our extension is made compatible with them in a timely manner.
Please note that our statements refer to the Shopware Community Edition with the standard responsive theme.

To process your request as quickly as possible, please ensure that:
- The latest version of our extension, compatible with your Shopware version, is installed
- You have a valid rental or subscription license
- The issue also occurs in the Shopware standard theme and with all third-party extensions deactivated
- No changes have been made by you or third parties to the plugin code
- You have studied the manual in advance, as it already contains many helpful pieces of information
In most cases, it is necessary for us to have unrestricted access to your shop’s administration in order to analyze and fix the problem. Additionally, it may be required for you to provide us with FTP or ideally SSH credentials for your server. Please note that setting up and later removing these accesses is your responsibility.
For a smooth troubleshooting process, we recommend conducting support in a staging or development environment. This allows issues to be reproduced under controlled conditions without affecting your live shop.
