About the Extension

Standard CMS elements not enough for your corporate design?

You know the limits of shopping experiences: predefined blocks, little room for layout and content, and every custom element eats developer time. Agencies and merchants with a clear corporate design want to build their own CMS blocks without starting from scratch each time.

You drag fields such as text, links, images, entities, or dynamic product groups into place. Finished elements live in a plugin and travel with you to the next shop.

Why the default often falls short

Shopware ships solid base blocks. As soon as landing pages, brand worlds, or recurring modules leave the corporate design, things get tight. Repetitions for sliders and tabs, required fields, a clear preview before go-live: the default set does not cover that reliably.

You need a structure that editorial and technical teams share: fields in the editor, output in the template, reuse across projects.

How CmsElementBuilder solves it

CmsElementBuilder gives you an editor for individual CMS blocks and content elements in shopping experiences. You define fields via drag and drop, maintain labels and help texts, and adjust the Twig template in the Files tab or on the file system. Create elements in the Administration or via the console. New elements start with all available field types as a scaffold you reduce to what you need.

Typical use cases:

  • Hero areas, teasers, and brand modules that match the corporate design
  • Sliders, tabs, and cards built with repetitions
  • Product or category references including dynamic product groups
  • Reusable blocks for several agency clients

The preview shows how content elements look in shopping experiences before they go live. In the block configuration you see the rough layout next to the settings. For editors you add preview images so the right element is obvious. On entity fields you pick several preview properties in the order you want, for example name and number of a category.

Control for editorial teams and Administration

Mark fields as required so incomplete content cannot be saved. Hide elements in the Administration that shopping experiences do not need. When the list grows, search finds the right block. If a plugin is deactivated and references break, you check those spots and clean them up.

Import and export moves blocks between environments. CMS elements live in your extension or custom theme, not in the builder itself. They survive updates and can be versioned.

Available field types

  • Link
  • Text
  • Textarea
  • Html
  • Number
  • Media
  • Repetition
  • Entity (e.g. category, product)
  • Dynamic product group
  • Color picker
  • Date and time
  • Select
  • Radio
  • Checkbox

For the category entity field, a selection field with category path helps you find the right one.

Inspiration, getting started, and the CMS Collection

A free sample plugin with content elements is ready to download as a boilerplate. The premium theme LUMINA one by 8works uses the extension for extra content elements. From version 4.6.0 it works with Pixup AI Translator.

CMS trio:

  • CmsElementBuilder: Create individual CMS blocks and content elements for shopping experiences.
  • FlexContent: Display shopping experiences flexibly and rule based at different shop positions.
  • CmsTools: Overview of category layouts and content elements in shopping experiences.

Install the extension, create your first element in the editor, and test the preview in a shopping experience. You see how quickly standard layouts become individual shop experiences.

In most cases, it is necessary for us to have unrestricted access to your shop’s administration in order to analyze and fix the problem.

Im Prinzip muss man dafür lediglich TWIG, HTML, CSS beherrschen und man ist good to go.
