About the Extension
Shopware has no loyalty program built in. Vouchers and discount campaigns work once and then they are gone. A points program is meant to bring customers back again and again. “One point per euro” is not enough for that. You need control over when points count, what they are worth, what customers can redeem them for and what open points cost your shop. Bonus System covers this whole cycle inside Shopware, without an external service.
With 450 downloads and 22 reviews, most of them five stars, Bonus System is the market leader among bonus point extensions for Shopware. The sections below show why.
Earn points on your terms
The conversion factor sets how many points one euro of order value earns, with up to five decimals. You can leave shipping costs out of the calculation and round fractions up, down or commercially.
Orders are not the only source. Approved product reviews and newsletter sign-ups earn their own points, and a custom field gives individual products a fixed point value.
Orders placed in the Administration or through the API can earn points as well. Line items from configurators and other extensions are added to the calculation through a whitelist.
Campaigns through conditions
Six condition types extend the base settings, each with a validity period and a priority. Use them for “double points in September”, to exclude sale items from earning or redeeming, or to set a separate factor per customer group, customer number, category or product stream.
A separate factor can apply on a customer’s birthday or for the whole birth month. With a rule from the Rule Builder, a condition applies only above a cart value, in one country or for a specific payment method.
Release and cancellation without manual work
Points are booked first and become usable only when you decide: instantly, after payment, after shipping, after completion or only manually. You can combine this with a release after n days, for example once the return period has ended, using AND or OR.
If an order is cancelled, returned or partially returned, the extension deducts the points again.
Redemption in the cart
Customers turn points into a discount line item with a slider, a number field or a button. This works in the cart and, if you enable it, in the checkout. As an alternative, the extension can redeem the balance automatically on every order.
A minimum point balance, a maximum amount or a remaining minimum order value limit redemption. Shipping can be excluded, and other vouchers can be dropped once points are redeemed. For your ERP, the points line item gets its own product number.
A reward shop of your own
Bonus products are items from your catalog that customers order with points. For each reward you set a fixed point price or let the conversion factor calculate it, along with a purchase limit, a validity period and sales channels.
A reward is available for points only or for either money or points. The reward list lives at /bonus-products, and a slider shows matching rewards in cart and checkout. If you like, every product in the shop becomes payable with points.
Expiry with advance notice
Points expire after a fixed number of days, or never. Before that, the customer sees a notice after login and receives an email with a lead time you choose. They can unsubscribe from that email in their points account.
Visible where customers decide
Product pages and listings show how many points a purchase earns, optionally with the money value. The balance sits in the header, cart and checkout show the points for the current order, and the invoice lists points used and earned.
The points account shows balance, value, pending points, history and every active way to earn more. Guest buyers are told that a customer account would earn them points. You can add your own Shopping Experience pages, such as program terms, to the points menu, and match colors and the points icon to your theme.
Administration with a full audit trail
The module under Marketing shows key figures per sales channel, the top collectors and every booking. Each booking shows when and where its points were used or expired. You release points in bulk, add or deduct points manually and export bookings as CSV through Shopware’s Import/Export.
Open points valued in euros
Open points are a liability. The “Liabilities” report converts them into euros using each sales channel’s own factor and reconciles every month: opening balance, issued, redeemed, expired, cancelled, closing balance.
It also shows redemption and expiry rates, a cohort matrix and an expiry forecast for 30 to 180 days. For a closing date you generate three CSV exports and lock completed months. A dedicated permission controls who sees these figures.
Automation with Flow Builder and rules
The trigger “Bonus points changed” fires on every movement in a points account. The action “Change points balance” books points from any flow, for example as a welcome bonus. Three Rule Builder conditions check the balance and the points redeemed, so you can use them for shipping methods, payment methods or promotions.
Scheduled tasks handle release and expiry emails, and console commands handle maintenance. Balances from legacy systems, Shopware 5 included, come in through an import table.
Reward tiers (add-on)
Tiers such as Bronze, Silver and Gold reward loyalty over a longer period. Each tier brings a discount on a dynamic product group, free shipping or its own point factor, plus a list of benefits. A rule limits a tier to a sales channel, customer group, country or time period.
The tier is calculated from the current balance, from all points ever earned or from a rolling window, with a validity period and a grace period before a downgrade. Customers see their tier, their progress and this year’s savings in the header, the account and the cart. A tier page can also serve as a landing page for guests. Flows send emails on upgrade and downgrade.
Preferred reward (add-on)
The customer marks one reward as a savings goal. The shop shows the progress in the points account, the reward shop, on the product page, above the cart and in the header menu. Exactly one email goes out once the goal is reached. The report shows which rewards customers aim for and which they actually redeem.
Architecture and operation
All settings live on a dedicated page with tabs and apply per sales channel, inheriting from “All Sales Channels”. Customer groups can be excluded. Points accounts and bookings are stored in your own database, and all texts ship in German and English as snippets.
Eleven Store API routes provide the points account, rewards, redemption, tiers and the preferred reward. The Storefront uses the same routes, so a headless frontend behaves like the standard shop. More than 300 Twig blocks let you customize without copying templates.
