About the Extension

In Shopware, breadcrumbs are typically based on a predefined default category. This can become confusing as soon as products are assigned to multiple categories. The breadcrumb shown on the product page often does not match the path the customer actually took, making navigation feel inconsistent and unintuitive.

Solution: Breadcrumbs based on the real user journey

Breadcrumb Plus dynamically adapts the breadcrumb to the actual navigation path of the visitor. Instead of showing a fixed category, the breadcrumb reflects how the user reached the product, creating a much more intuitive browsing experience.

If a product is accessed directly, for example via a search engine, external link or bookmark, the plugin automatically falls back to the configured default category. This ensures a consistent structure for both users and search engines, without affecting your SEO.

Das Plugin ist einfach zu konfigurieren, macht genau, was es soll und sorgt bei komplexen Kategoriebäumen dafür, dass der Kunde nicht durch wechselnde Breadcrumbs verwirrt wird.
Auch der Support ist spitze: Nach einem Bug-Report bekam ich innerhalb von 40 Minuten einen Fix zugeschickt! Besser geht's nicht ;-)

Erweiterung funktioniert wie beschrieben und verbessert die User Experience für mehrfachzugewiesene Artikel. Ein kleiner Bug wurde in Rekordgeschwindigkeit getroubleshooted und direkt mit einer neuen Version korrigiert.

If a product is opened directly, for example via a search engine, external link or bookmark, the plugin automatically falls back to the configured default category. This ensures that a meaningful breadcrumb is always displayed, even if there was no prior navigation within the shop.

Does the plugin affect SEO?

No. The plugin is designed to fully preserve your shop’s existing SEO structure. For direct product visits, the default breadcrumb is used, so search engines continue to see a consistent and logical page hierarchy. No additional URLs are created and existing structures remain unchanged.

Does the plugin impact page load time or performance?

The breadcrumb is generated dynamically based on the user’s navigation path. In most cases, this happens instantly without any noticeable delay. In more complex setups or highly customised shops, other factors may influence loading behaviour, but the plugin itself is built with performance in mind.

Does the plugin affect Shopware caching?
