Early Adopter Special: 50% discount for the first 4 weeks!
Shopware displays payment methods the customer can't actually use – and that costs you orders.
Shopware's built-in Rule Builder lets you restrict payment methods by order value – but the blocked payment method stays visible and selectable in the checkout. The customer clicks on it, proceeds to the next step, and only then sees an error message. Frustration, confusion, abandoned cart.
This plugin does it right: Payment methods that are unavailable due to the order value are never shown in the first place. No error, no going back, no lost customer.
How it works
Configuration happens exactly where you'd expect: directly in the settings of each payment method. No separate menu, no detours.
Enable the limit. Enter the minimum and/or maximum value. Done.
The plugin checks the current cart value on every checkout. If the value falls outside the configured range, the payment method disappears – before the customer ever sees it. Transparent, clean, no error message.
Rule Builder vs. this plugin – the crucial difference
The Rule Builder lets you restrict payment methods – but not hide them. The blocked method stays visible, the customer selects it, and only receives an error in the next step. Checkout abandonment guaranteed.
This plugin goes further:
✅ Payment method is hidden immediately – not just blocked
✅ No error in the next step, no abandonment
✅ Real-time update on every cart change
✅ Configuration directly on the payment method – no separate Rule Builder needed
❌ Rule Builder: Payment method remains visible and selectable
❌ Rule Builder: Error message only appears in the next checkout step
❌ Rule Builder: No real-time update when the cart changes
The Rule Builder solves the problem on paper. This plugin solves it in the checkout.
Three real-world scenarios
Scenario 1: Invoice only up to €500
High order values increase the risk of payment defaults. Restrict invoice payment to a maximum order value of €500.
- Cart €300 → Invoice available
- Cart €750 → Invoice not visible – no error message, no confusion
Scenario 2: PayPal only up to €1,000
High cart values mean high transaction fees from providers like PayPal. Restrict PayPal to smaller orders to keep costs down.
- Cart €250 → PayPal available
- Cart €1,500 → PayPal not visible – customer selects a suitable alternative directly
Scenario 3: Credit card only for premium customers between €100 and €1,000
Offer certain payment methods only to selected customer groups – combined with the Rule Builder for maximum flexibility.
- Premium customer, cart €80 → Credit card not visible
- Premium customer, cart €500 → Credit card available
- Guest customer, cart €500 → Credit card not visible
Advanced control with the Rule Builder
For shops that need more flexibility: the plugin integrates fully with the Shopware Rule Builder. Limits can be combined with additional conditions:
- Registered customers only
- Specific customer groups
- Selected sales channels
- Combined with any Shopware rules
